Account Deletion Policy – SettleMate: Split Expenses

This page explains how you can request the deletion of your account and associated data from SettleMate: Split Expenses.

📧 How to Request Account Deletion

To request account deletion, please send an email to:

Please send the request from the same email address used to register your account and include your full name as it appears within the application.

✅ Data That Will Be Deleted

Upon successful verification and processing of your request, the following information will be permanently removed:

Your account and login credentials
Your profile information (name, email address, and profile picture)
Groups created by you if no other members are present
Your push notification token and related notification settings

⚠️ Data That May Be Retained

If you participated in shared groups with other members, certain financial records may remain to preserve the accuracy and integrity of group expense history.

These records may include:

Expense entries created by you (displayed as "Deleted User")
Settlement records involving your account (displayed as "Deleted User")

This information is retained solely to ensure that existing group balances and financial records remain accurate for other users.

⏱️ Processing Time

Account deletion requests are typically processed within 7 business days after identity verification.

❗ Important Information

Account deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed.
You will lose access to all groups, expenses, and account data.
Outstanding balances will not be automatically settled.
Deleted accounts cannot be recovered after processing.

💡 Before Requesting Deletion

We recommend taking the following actions before submitting a deletion request:

Settle any pending balances with group members.
Transfer ownership of groups if you are a group administrator.
Save or export any important information you may need in the future.
Take screenshots of important records if required.
